Initiative
Here at Medford High School we strive to create an environment of equality, tolerance, and respect. The Center for Citizenship and Social Responsibility allows each and every student to do so, providing us with the amazing opportunity to change our community and the world.
I am a senior at Medford High School and I enjoy being a part of the Center for Citizenship and Social Responsibility. My cousin, a transgender individual, has inspired me to tackle issues of gender discrimination and gender roles. The Medford Public Schools Gender Neutrality Initiative serves as a vehicle for me to explore these issues and make a positive impact.

I am a senior at Medford High School, a proud social activist, a committed member of the Center for Citizenship and Social Responsibility, and most importantly, I identify as a female. As a student of the public schools system, I have experienced first-hand the harmful effects traditional classroom practices have on gender relations as well as gender expectations. This project is a way in which I could address these issues in the public education system.
